Device and method for separating vegetable products from admixtures
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to the temporary storage and transport of harvested vegetable products, e.g. vegetables and fruit, from admixtures and the removal of soil, clods, stones, foliage or similar material.
BACKGROUND
Soil life plays a major role in making nutrients from organic matter available. Soil organisms also increase nutrient availability in other ways, for example through the many symbiotic relationships between plant roots and useful fungi and bacteria. For example, mycorrhizae are responsible for an increase in the absorption surface of the root system. This allows the plant to absorb few mobile elements (especially phosphorus). Another example is the biological conversion of ammonium to nitrite and subsequently to nitrate by nitrifying bacteria, which is easier for the plant to absorb. In addition to beneficial organisms, soil life also includes pathogenic and pest-forming organisms, which can potentially cause major economic damage. Plant parasitic nematodes are widespread and cause significant damage to a wide range of important agricultural and horticultural crops (eg potato cyst nematode, beet cyst nematode). Certain bacteria and fungi are also important pathogens. More than 10,000 types of fungi are pathogenic to plants. Fusarium (wilt) and Rhizoctonia are just a few examples of fungi that can cause losses on vegetables, flowers and various field crops. Streptomyces scabies, on the other hand, is an example of a bacterial plant damage that causes common potato scab.
When harvesting crops such as potatoes, carrots, or beets, a large amount of soil from the land often comes along. Most harvesters pick up the product including soil. These crops are transferred from the harvester to a loading wagon that travels over the field next to the harvester, often pulled by a tractor. This loading wagon serves as temporary storage for the harvested products, after which it can be transferred to a transport wagon that is ready on the side of the field. This then serves for transporting the products to the storage location or consumer.
However, transporting soil together with agricultural products is undesirable. On the one hand because of the risks described above with regard to contamination, and on the other hand also for economic reasons: it is obvious that it is more advantageous to limit the transport of irrelevant by-products such as soil. In addition, a carrier will often be required to take by-products such as soil again after the delivery of the products, or to pay for them. The above problem makes it clear that the earth that after grubbing up is still around potatoes or other vegetable products should ideally be removed as quickly as possible and be deposited locally.
In the state of the art, various separation devices exist to remove admixtures such as soil, clods, stones, foliage or similar material, but these are often arranged at some distance from the exact location of the harvesting. In that case there is a risk of infecting the soil on and around such a separation device with non-local bacteria, fungi, nematodes and the like. This should therefore be avoided as far as possible.
Document EP0730399, for example, describes a device for separating potatoes from admixtures such as soil, clods, stones, foliage or similar material, in particular for potato harvesting machines, which can be placed locally. The charge is applied to the device, and the unwanted admixtures such as soil are separated from it. However, this has the disadvantage that a lot of time is lost during the cleaning of the load and that this requires additional manpower. Moreover, such a device is static and not mobile, as a result of which the earth will accumulate at the location where it is stationed. Consequently, this again causes problems and usually requires additional transport of the earth obtained.
Document DE202014105122 describes a device for receiving and transferring a load, provided with an inclined transport device that brings the load to a road transport means. The products are brought from the device to the means of transport via an inclined tread. Hereby a minimal separation of earth and products occurs, whereby the products are brought into the means of transport and the earth falls down to the ground. As with the stationary device from the prior art, this results in local accumulation of soil. Again, this is not ideal and should be avoided. Moreover, due to the fact that the device from DE202014105122 cannot produce a thin layer of products, the separation takes place very poorly or even not.
To date, there appears to be no known apparatus in the state of the art that allows the following processes to be carried out simultaneously: (1) separating harvested vegetable products from any remaining admixtures, (2) collecting the admixtures in a collection agent and any homogeneous distribution of the admixtures over a surface and (3) further transport of the cleaned plant products.
The present invention seeks to provide a solution for one or more of the aforementioned problems or shortcomings.
SUMMARY
The present invention provides in a first aspect a displacement device for displacing harvested vegetable products from a harvesting machine to a further transport means, such as a further road or train transport, provided with a mobile frame on which a loading container is provided with means for the removal of the grubbed products to a discharge end of the device, wherein at the discharge end a separating device is provided for separating the grubbed vegetable products from any remaining admixtures, such as soil, clods, stones, foliage or similar material, wherein a collecting means is provided under the separating device is provided for collecting the admixtures.
In a second aspect, the present invention provides a method for separating, unloading and collecting harvested vegetable products and any residual admixtures, such as soil, clods, stones, foliage or the like, the separation, unloading and collection taking place simultaneously.
In a third aspect, the present invention provides a separation device suitable for attachment to a mobile device, comprising a roller bed, a discharge belt and a collection means, suitable for transporting and receiving admixtures that have been separated from harvested products. This device serves as a module for converting existing mobile devices into a displacement device according to the present invention.
The present invention has the advantage that the separate admixtures are collected at the place of harvesting and, if necessary, can also be discharged again at the bottom, or transported to another place for further processing or use. In this way, the risk of accidentally infecting other soils with the bacteria, fungi, nematodes, and the like, originally reduced at the site of harvesting, diminishes or disappears. Moreover, the invention offers an economic advantage, since additional costs for transporting by-products such as soil instead of the desired products are avoided. The device and method according to the present invention offer a very efficient and cost-effective way of quickly loading a means of transport with vegetable products from a field.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Unless defined otherwise, all terms used in the description of the invention, including technical and scientific terms, have the meaning as generally understood by those skilled in the art of the invention. For a better assessment of the description of the invention, the following terms are explicitly explained.
In a first aspect, the invention provides a moving device for moving harvested vegetable products from a harvesting machine to a further transport means, such as a further road or train transport, provided with a mobile frame on which a loading container is provided with means for the removal of the harvested products to a discharge end of the device, wherein a separation device is provided at the discharge end for separating the harvested vegetable products from any remaining admixtures, such as soil, clods, stones, foliage or similar material. In particular, a collecting means is provided below the separating device for collecting the admixtures.
The device ensures a thorough separation of undesired admixtures and products, and this almost simultaneously with the transfer of the products to a transport truck. This means a huge saving of time during the harvesting process. This also has the advantage that the separate admixtures are collected at the location of the harvesting and can possibly also be released again on the soil, or transported to another location for further processing or use. In this way, the risk of accidentally infecting other soils with the bacteria, fungi, nematodes, and the like, originally reduced at the site of harvesting, diminishes or disappears. To date, such a process was not possible.
In a further preferred form of the invention, the harvested vegetable products comprise crops of the potato family (Solanaceae / Solanaceae) and carrots (Parrot flower family / Apiacae).
In a preferred form of the invention, the means for discharging the cleared products comprise a movable floor.
The movable floor of the loading container is preferably provided with a drive chain for carrying the harvested vegetable products and any admixtures to the rear end of the loading container, in the direction of the separating device.
In a preferred form the device is a high-loader. To this end, the invention provides means for raising the loading platform, whereby the loading platform is brought into an angle with the ground surface. In particular, the loading container is raised by means of a hydraulic rod coupled to the loading container and the mobile frame. The angle between the loading container and the ground surface will preferably be between 0 and 75 °, more preferably between 0 and 45 °. By means of the movable floor described above in combination with the tiltable loading platform, products can be moved forward from the loading platform and, for example, be transferred to a ready transport device.
The separating device will preferably be hinged to the loading platform. As a result, it can also function as a shut-off valve for the loading container, wherein the direction of separation will close off the loading container in the folded-up state, and will allow passage of the products in the folded-out state.
In a preferred form of the invention, during use the separating device is mounted at an angle of 0-20 ° descending with respect to the floor of the loading platform, more preferably at an angle between 0 and 11 °. The angle variation can be adjusted based on the degree of contamination of the products, whereby a lower angle of inclination is suitable for heavily contaminated products and a higher angle for less contaminated products.
In a preferred form of the invention, roller bodies are provided in the separation device. The term "rolling bodies" in the present invention refers to objects rolling around an axis such as (smooth) rolls, spiral rolls, diabolo rolls, star rolls and the like.
In a further preferred form, the rollers are arranged on parallel axes next to each other to form a roller bed together, and to perform a rotation movement directed towards the rear of the separating device, which exerts at least once an increased transporting force on the harvested vegetable products and the harvested vegetable products. any admixtures. This will ensure a good separation of the loose admixtures such as soil and the products and a thin layer of products will be obtained.
In a preferred form of the invention, the roller bodies are placed at a fixed distance from each other, preferably between 10 and 30 mm.
In an alternative preferred form of the invention, the roller bodies can be placed at a variable distance from each other, preferably between 10 and 30 mm, with the aid of an extendable scissor system. The device can be provided with a minimum of 5 to 50 rolling bodies, more preferably between 5 and 20 rolling bodies. The length of the roller bed is preferably between 0.5 and 2 m.
In a preferred form of the invention, the separating device comprises a discharge belt for discharging the admixtures. This discharge belt is preferably provided under the roller bed. The direction of movement of the conveyor belt will here preferably be opposite to the direction of movement of the roller bed. As a result, admixtures falling between the openings in the roller bed will be discharged in a direction opposite to that of the direction of the products.
In one embodiment, the discharge belt is fixedly attached to the roller bed. In another embodiment, the roller bed and the discharge belt are variably attached, wherein the angle formed between the roller bed and the discharge belt can be adjusted, and thus also the speed at which the admixtures are discharged. In particular, the angle can be adjusted between 5 and 75 °, more in particular between 5 and 45 °.
The admixtures will be brought to a collection means via the discharge belt. In a preferred form of the invention the collecting means is coupled to the rear of the mobile frame. More in particular, the collecting means will be attached to the base of the device. Preferably the collecting means extends substantially over the full width of the mobile frame. The collection means will in particular be a tub, vessel, container or reservoir with an opening suitable for receiving the admixtures. In a further embodiment, the collecting means may be provided with a release system that enables the release of the admixtures after collection. Such a release system can consist of a loading flap provided on the side or bottom of the collection means. In particular, the opening of the loading flap will be controllable, wherein a large or small opening controls the flow rate of the too loose admixtures. In another preferred form, the collecting means can be provided with a chicken system, wherein the collecting means is pivotable about an axis and can thus release the admixtures.
By coupling the collecting means to the mobile frame of the device, the admixtures can be collected locally during the loading of a transport means. As a result, the products are immediately cleaned and separated from the unwanted admixtures, which can furthermore be immediately re-exported to the country of origin.
The device can further be provided with a cloth or wall for guiding the admixtures to the collecting means, for example in circumstances where there is a lot of wind. This also prevents the devices from becoming dirty during the operations.
In a second aspect, the invention provides a method for separating, unloading and collecting harvested vegetable products and any residual admixtures, such as soil, clods, stones, foliage or the like, characterized in that the separating, unloading and collecting simultaneously happens. This makes efficient and economical processing of freshly harvested products possible.
In a preferred form of the invention, the separation comprises the following steps: receiving harvested vegetable products and any residual admixtures on rotating roll bodies from a separation device; and at least partially passing the admixtures to a discharge belt which discharges the admixtures in the direction of a collection means.
In a preferred form of the invention, the unloading comprises a step of delivering cleaned vegetable products to a further means of transport, such as a further road or train transport.
In a preferred form of the invention, collecting comprises a step of receiving the admixtures in a collecting means arranged on a mobile frame.
In a preferred form of the invention, the separation, unloading and collection of harvested vegetable products and any residual admixtures, as well as the traction of the mobile frame comprises a manual control box and / or at least partially automatic, computer-implemented operation, for example using a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) control.
In a third aspect, the present invention provides a separation device suitable for attachment to a mobile device, comprising a roller bed, a discharge belt and a collection means. This separation device serves for the transport and reception of admixtures that have been separated from harvested products.
This device can be mounted as a module on existing mobile devices to convert them into a displacement device according to the present invention. The discharge belt will preferably be attached to the roller bed and the moving device of the discharge belt being opposite to that of the roller bed. The further features of the separation device have already been described in detail above and are also applicable to the separation device, mountable as a module.
